Story Lab

OUR WORLD NEEDS BETTER STORIES

A 12-session course devoted to the making of story

The Story Lab focuses on story structure, character, atmosphere, and narrative development.

Guided by the Bee’s Filter Method, a process based on the idea of learning to write creatively by learning to read creatively, and on the concept of “filters” as a way of focusing on different story elements,  participants gradually develop their stories.

Work is organised around specific story elements and narrative concepts related to character and story structure. Each concept is first introduced in clear theoretical terms and then explored through the close reading of literary texts.

Rather than being applied mechanically as techniques, the filters become points of attention. Participants learn to recognise them across different stories, returning to them repeatedly until the concepts gradually become familiar and internalised.

Through this ongoing movement between concept, reading, and writing, narrative thinking deepens and becomes both more precise and more intuitive. Over time, participants develop a stronger understanding of what gives a story coherence, tension, atmosphere, and meaning.

The Lab is designed both for beginners discovering fiction and for writers wishing to deepen and structure their storytelling practice.

Participants join according to their experience and the stage of their writing.
